The home of the State's first hydroelectric power station is located some 77 kilometers South-East of Jos. This area is well known for its breathtaking scenery. It has pleasant climate suitable for people who cherish beauty and pleasant environments. With it's rocks, hills, and lakes, the whole area is ideal for boating, camping, and rock climbing.
Tourists cannot avoid the temptation of the picturesque scene on the Panyam - Shendam road. Many tourists have been known to take a detour to admire the scenery on this road as the hills are nothing short of spectacular. If you are a mountain hiker, you will love the challenge posed by this scenery.
Want to experience a village life? Here is a typical village compound. In these round huts is the entire belongings of a whole family. There are no running water, no toilets, but everything else that this family needs is housed in one of these small huts. Stop in and enjoy a typical Plateau hospitality.
Jalbang Rock. This rock has great history attached to it. It is the in this rock that the Long Geomai, the spiritual leader of the Geomai people is installed. The installation of the Long Geomai is done in a cave on this mountain. During installation, no one is allowed on any part of the mountain, with the exception of the king makers of the tribe. To this date, no Geomai woman is allowed to visit the location or the cave where the traditional Coronation of the Long Geomai is done. Other none Geomai woman can go to the place, but it forbidden for all females of Geomai decent.
Luham Rock. Luham Rock is located in Tunkus, the capital of Mikang Local Government Area. Luham in the language of the local tribe of Montol means house of water, or simply put, a source of water. The story behind this rock is that back in the dark ages where people had to protect themselves, the local people had to take cover in rocks and mountains. The Montol people were fortunate to have discovered this mountain that not only offered them protection, but it also provided them with the most important source of sustenance, water.

This contrasts the mountains that can be seen shadowing behind the building.

Yitbang Lake. The Yitbang is a mysterious lake of sorts. As small as it looks, it water level remains constant year round. In this lake are crocodiles and other amphibious animals. Due to human encroachment, the lake inhabitants are loosing out to humans. While out to photograph this lake, we learned that a large crocodile was trapped and killed for killing (domestic animals) goats and dogs. Once again, the wild animal is loosing out its natural home to humans.
Pandam Game Reserve. This game reserve provides the tourist with what can be expected in a nature preserve of its kind. The park is home to very many types of animals found in the region. In its waters are Hippopotamus, Crocodiles and snakes of all types. It is not uncommon to walk the banks of the lake and come face to face with a crocodile or a python. But a tourist should not be too concerned about any of these for the animals seem to know where humans hang out, and manage to avoid those areas. There has never been any reported encounter of humans with any of the animals in this park. Also, the rangers are always there to make sure that no tourist is hurt. If you ever want to enjoy nature, the Pandam Game Reserve is you next picnic stop area.

Assop Water Falls. Located some 62 kilometers along the Jos- Akwanga road, is Assop Falls. Another of nature's gift to Plateau State inhabitants and visitors. Located in a picturesque environment, the water fall has provided an ideal spot for shooting popular T.V. soap operas , and advertisements. It is an ideal spot for picnicking, rock climbing and even swimming. The peaceful environment provides atmosphere in which one can relax while in awe of nature's wonder.
