Mrs. Pauline Kedem Tallen OFR,
Deputy Governor, Plateau State

Mrs. Pauline K. Tellen, OFR made history in the annals of Plateau State in May of 2007 when she assumed office as the first female ever to occupy the office of the Deputy Governor of Plateau Sate, and to become the number two citizen in the state.  No other woman has ever occupied this exalted position before so her status amongst women in Plateau State is what many will envy.  She and the Executive Governor of the State, Air Commodore Jonah David Jang were elected on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), the leading Political Party in Nigeria.

This young talented and ambitious young woman was born on the 8th January 1959 in Shendam town, Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State, Nigeria.  Mrs. Pauline Tellen holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in the field of Sociology from the prestigious University of Jos.  The young deputy governor’s appetite for learning did not stop with her University Degree as evidenced by her receiving training in the World Renowned Harvard University in the Kennedy School of Government in the United States.

Though Mrs. Pauline K. Tellen is serving her home state for the first time as its democratically elected deputy governor, she is not a stranger to governance and leadership having served as Minister for State for the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology under the first tenure of the Obasanjo administration.  Her experience in Plateau State itself dates back a long way in her developing and growing life.  She has served the state in several capacities ranging from Clerical Officer to the Commissioner in two different ministries.  Mrs. Tellen is indeed a force to recon with in the politics of Plateau State.

Mrs. Pauline Tellen has played and continues to play a key role in Nigerian national politics. She played a crucial role in the election of current republic and in the People's Democratic Party Primaries in 1999 as well in 2003, and again in 2007 when she emerged victorious as the deputy governor under the flag of the people’s Democratic Party. Mrs. Tellen has also been a recipient of numerous Awards of recognition and outstanding performance too numerous to mention, and from various Organizations around the world.
