The Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources has responsibilities for:

• Agricultural services, including: tree crop development; farm settlement; school-leaver's farm; and livestock services.
• Loans to farmers and fishermen.
• Agricultural research and planning.
• Veterinary Services including animal health and meat inspection.
• Forestry.
• Soil and water conservation.
• Wildlife preservation.
• Fisheries.
• Produce inspection.
• Relations with other State Governments and the Federal Government, and external agencies on all matters regarding agricultural development.
• Distribution of Fertilizers to Farmers.
• Botanical and Zoological Gardens.
• College of Agriculture.
